Our team is built on experience, dedication, and the people who keep things running behind the scenes. We’re highlighting William “Bill” Chick, a Project Manager whose adaptability and commitment help keep operations moving forward every day. Bill has been a steady presence on the team for many years, contributing both technical knowledge and a dependable work ethic. His ability to navigate day-to-day challenges while supporting both production and planning makes him an important part of the Brainard Rivet operation. Read more about Bill and his journey at Brainard Rivet below.
Bill first joined Brainard Rivet in January 2003 on a part-time basis. After a brief time away, he returned in June 2004 as a full-time team member. He has been an integral part of the company ever since. As a Project Manager, no two days look the same for Bill and that’s exactly what keeps things interesting for him.
A typical week can vary from day to day, often depending on what challenges come up on the production floor. Whether it’s responding to an unexpected machine issue, coordinating with vendors for quotes on dies or header inserts, or updating and sending out drawings, Bill plays a key role in keeping operations running smoothly. His work requires flexibility, quick thinking, and strong communication, making him an essential part of the team.
For Bill, it’s all about the people. “I enjoy the diversity of the people that I work with. That makes my day a challenge every day.” That variety brings new perspectives and keeps each day engaging, no matter what comes his way.
Bill’s journey to Brainard Rivet wasn’t a traditional one. After a period of unemployment, a friend encouraged him to apply. That opportunity turned into a long-term career. Before joining the team, Bill spent 10 years working for an Ethan Allen furniture company. He worked his way up from setting up jobs on the line to becoming a material cutter. That hands-on experience continues to shape his solutions-focused approach today.
When he’s not at work, Bill enjoys spending time with his family, especially out on the golf course with his sons and grandson. He also likes taking his Can-Am out for a ride when he gets the chance. In the kitchen, Bill has a talent that might surprise a few people. He makes his own pasta and bread from scratch. Not only does he enjoy the process, but it also happens to be his favorite thing to eat. If he could have any superpower, Bill says he would choose the power of healing, so he could help anyone who is sick. A fitting answer for someone who is described by friends and family as both a provider and compassionate person.
Bill’s reliability, versatility, and people-first mindset make a meaningful impact every day. Whether he’s solving problems on the floor or coordinating behind the scenes, his contributions help keep everything running smoothly. His experience and steady approach make him a go-to resource for both teammates and projects that require quick thinking and adaptability. We’re grateful for the dedication he brings to the team year after year. We’re proud to have Bill as part of the team!
